Lies, but why?

I lie to protect my reputation, but somehow when I am around Nick he makes me want to be a better person. He make me want to do the right things to become better in life, put all my decisive ways behind me. Nick is really starting to show me that honesty goes a long way in life. Sometimes the truth is going to hurt you, but if you tell the truth “ then the truth shall set you free.” I am trying so hard to become a better person, but sometimes when you are so used to lying it because a part of you.
